Gold Class Extensions Aftercare
Your Key to Healthy, Gorgeous Extensions
Hair extensions are an investment that you'll want to show off! You'll receive an accredited aftercare program to ensure you get the optimum results, prolong the life of your extensions, and reduce the risk of any damage.
Your aftercare advice will be personalised specifically to you, but here are some general recommendations your should be aware of;
Washing your Hair Extensions
Do not wash your hair for at least 48 hours after your extensions are applied.
Then only wash a maximum of 2-3 times a week using the recommended products.
Be careful not to scrub the hair as this can disrupt the bonds when shampooing.
Only apply your conditioner from the mid-lengths to the end of your hair.
Drying your Hair Extensions
Always dry the hair and the bonds thoroughly because they are at their most vulnerable when wet.
Never scrub your scalp and roots with a towel.
Use a blotting action to remove excess water.
Blowdry hair on a cool or lukewarm setting.
Brushing your Hair Extensions
Brush your hair extensions at least twice a day.
Whilst brushing, hold your hair to support it.
Always start at the ends and gradually work up the end.
When using a comb, never comb between the scalp and the bonds.
De-Tangling Hair Extensions
Natural hair loss occurs for everyone every single day. When wearing extensions your loose hair are trapped in the bonds, which can cause matting.
Avoid tangles and matting by regularly separating your bonds with your fingers.
Styling Hair Extensions
Keep styling products to the mid-lengths and ends, carefully avoiding the bonds.
Only use a good quality hairbrush that does not tug on the hair. Our Gold Class paddle brush is ideal.
Want to change your colour? Always see a professional who should only apply colour to your own roots, avoiding the bonds and hair extensions.
Sleeping with Hair Extensions
Tie your hair in a loose ponytail or plait to avoid tangling.
Invest in a silk hair cap to protect the hair from breakage, reduce matting and eliminate frizz.
Sport, Sun and Swimming with Hair Extensions
If you live an active lifestyle or are heading on holiday, always let your extensionist know so you can get the aftercare advice that you need.
Swimmers should protect their hair with the Gold Class pH balancer to combat the drying effects of chlorine.
Use the Gold Class pH balancer as a leave-in conditioner on holiday.
Regular Maintenance
Always schedule and attend regular maintenance appointments to retain the premium look and feel of your extensions.
Use the aftercare products recommended by your extensionist.
If anything doesn't look or feel right with your extensions get in touch with your extensionist as soon as possible.
Avoid...
Do not use products containing alcohol, oil near the bonds, or sulphates.
Avoid swimming in chlorinated/salt water - if you do, use a protective swim cap or rinse immediately after and apply a leave in conditioner.
Do not colour or chemically treat your extensions at home - always consult your extensionist.
